As the tip off of the 2017 Premier Basketball League beckons, the defending Champions Kano Pillars are making a loud statement that they plan to retain their title. The most recent is the signing of shooting guard, Dike Azuoma.

If there is something we know about Dike Azuoma, it is that he knows something about winning. He has won four champions in the last 6 years. He won the DSTV Premier Basketball League with Royal Hoopers (now Rivers Hoopers) in 2011 and 2012, he won with Mark Mentors in 2015 and he played for the Abidjan Ramblers team that won the maiden season of the African Basketball League (ABL) last year.

Confirming this move to Pillars, the 6`2" shooting guard says its the best decision for him; "Kano Pillars is one of the biggest teams in Nigeria basketball and it will be a honour to play for them again. I`ve been with the team before when I played for them at the FIBA African Champions Cup about five years ago.I like the organisation. Most of the players are also my team mates at the national level and we have played together."

Although he got offers from other clubs include Lagos Islanders and Abidjan Ramblers, he chose the Pillars as he feels he will make more impact over there.

"They believe in me and I know I have the experience and all it takes to help them defend the league championship."

Dike has been busy during the off season. He participated in the Lagos 3x3 Tour where his team DWB won the Ikeja Series. He will join other veteran players including Abubakar Usman (Nda Abu), Matthew Onmonya, Dele Ademola and Yahaya Abdul in Kano City.
