Summarize

At the beginning of the 2017 season of the Zenith Bank Women`s Basketball League, it was announced that a new format was going to be adopted to increase competitiveness and improve the quality of games. Twelve teams from the current women`s league will form the Women`s Premier Basketball League and a lower division will be created for the other teams.

Phase Two of the women`s league ended in Kaduna over the weekend and the top four teams in each group will make up the twelve teams that will play in the Women`s Premier Basketball League starting next year. These teams are;  

First Bank

Dolphins

IGP Queens

Delta Force

Benue Princess

Plateau Rocks

First Deepwater

Sunshine Angels

Customs

AHIP Queens

GT 2000

FCT Angels

The bottom six teams will be relegated to Division One and will be joined by other news who have applied to be a part of the league. They are;

Nasarawa Amazons

Zamfara Babes

Oluyole Babes

Taraba Hurricane

Coal City Queens

Ekiti Angels

The third and fourth phases will be held in Asaba and Ibadan respectively between the 22nd of June and 10th of July. The twelve teams will participate in these phases of which only eight will qualify for the grand finale - The Final Eight Playoffs - in Lagos.
