In an unbelievable turn of events at the Indoor Hall of the Kwara State Stadium, host team Kwara Falcons dominated and defeated arch rivals with 36 points. The rivalry between these two teams started last season, reaching its peak when Hoopers defeated Falcons during the 3rd place game. The two teams have improved remarkably over the years and both seek to dominate the Atlantic Conference. It was therefore expected that the game will be tough one also considering that first game Falcons lost this season was to Rivers Hoopers and Falcons will want a pay back by ending Hoopers` 8 game winning streak.
Falcons controlled the game from tip off leading with up to 50 points in the third quarter. The only time Hoopers took the lead was few minutes into the first quarter where they led with a point (8-7) . Falcons scored over 30 points from outside the arc while Hoopers` made only one 3 point shot in the entire game from 12 attempts. The game ended 93 - 57.
It was also a very intriguing match up between Customs and Hoops & Read and we thought we`d witness the third OT game of the season. The two teams went neck to neck through out the game, 11-13 at the end of Q1, 31 - 30 at half time and 47 - 47 at the end of Q3. Customs led 65 - 64 with 1.30 mins left in Q4 but a two point shot and a free throw gave Hoops & Read the edge over Customs. Hoopers made 17 of their 24 FTs. Game ended 65 - 67.
In Ibadan, Oluyole Warriors won their third consecutive games since the start of the season as they defeated visiting Delta Force. Warriors` Kehinde Fadojutimi was three points shy from double double with 7 points,10 rebounds. Four Warriors player - Moses Okpoye (15pts,3 rebs), Sunday Atibiyun (16pts,2 rebs), Sulaiman Owolabi (17pts,1 reb) and Olatunbosun Ajayi (12pts,5 rebs) had double digits points and combined for 60 points. Final scores was 92 - 67.
In the last game of the day in the Atlantic Conferences, Police Baton handed NAF Rockets their 6th consecutive loss this season with their 80 - 63 victory.
