As we countdown to the third NBA exhibition game in Johannesburg tagged NBA Africa Games, Amadou Gallo Fall (NBA Vice President and Managing Director for Africa) has reiterated that the event should be seen more than just a basketball game but as an event to celebrate and showcase the best of Africa.
In his interview with Femi Adefeso (The Basketball Arena), he emphasized that basketball is a tool that can drive Africa`s development.
`We are hosting the third NBA Africa Game to celebrate Africa to celebrate the energy of the role models for our youth. When we host the NBA Africa Game, it`s not just about the game being played on the court. We have a whole week where we engage with the community. We host an innovation summit where we bring some of the brightest minds across different sectors - technology, music, fashion and science - to come and share their vision with our young people. It`s about providing interaction. We have all the resources on the continent, basketball is used only as a catalyst.`
