Nigeria`s Power Forward and 2017 FIBA Women`s Afrobasket champion, Ndidi Madu earlier today 25th June 2018 announced her retirement from professional basketball after six years.

Madu share this news on her official Instagram page @first_lady_14

`After six amazing years of being a professional basketball player, I am hanging up my shoes. This by far has been one of the hardest decisions I have made, but I thank GOD for His strength and the support of those who I have spoken to about my decision to move forward and help youth reach their academic and athletic goals through coaching and my Team Madu Foundation`

She also confirmed that she will not join the senior women`s team for the 2018 FIBA World Cup in Spain later this year. 

`I will not be joining the Nigerian National Team this year in the World Cup in Spain. I want to say a very big thank you to the NBBF for giving me the opportunity to represent Nigeria for the past four years.`

Madu represented the country in the 2015 and 2017 FIBA Afrobasket for Women. She has also played professionally with different clubs across the globe including Broni (Italy), ZKK Buducnost Bemax (Montenegro), Ferroviaro de Maputo (Mozambique), Inter Clube (Angola)


We wish her the very best in the next phase of her career.
