Summarize

It is officially 21 days to the tip off of the maiden season of the newly formed Basketball Africa League (BAL) and the excitement continues to build up. Ahead of the beginning of the season, the 12 teams have been grouped in two conferences - Nile and Savannah. 

The representative of Nigeria, Rivers Hoopers have been grouped along with Zamalek Basketball (Egypt), US Monastir (Tunisia), Ferroviario de Maputo (Mozambique), FAP (Cameroon) and Patriots BBC (Rwanda) in the Nile Conference.The Savannah Conference comprises of GS Petroliers (Algeria), Petro de Luanda (Angola), GNBC (Madagascar), AS Police (Mali), AS Sale (Morocco) and AS Douanes (Senegal). 


Rivers Hoopers and the rest of the Nile Conference teams will be play their games in Tunisia, Lagos and Egypt, while the Savannah Conference games will be played in Angola, Senegal and Morocco. The playoffs and the finals will be played at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda. 

The first Savannah Conference games will be played in Dakar from Friday March 13 to Sunday March 20, while Nile games will commence in Tunis the week after from March 20 - 22. The Lagos games will be played at the indoor sports hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium from April 17 - 19. 

The teams in each conference will play in a league format and at the end of the group stage, the top four teams in each conference will advance to the single-elimination playoffs in Kigali. 

According to a press statement released by Rivers Hoopers, the teams has intensified training ahead of the league and hope to put on a show when the league starts.
