When news broke of the death of Justice Nasir Ajannah, the Chief Justice of Kogi State and a great contributor to the development of basketball in the country, many basketball veterans poured out deep emotional tributes. One of them is former NBA and DTigers` player, Olumide Oyedeji.
In his tribute shared this morning, Olumide Oyedeji mourned the passing of such an exemplary icon.
"On 28th of June 2020 ,I woke up to some terrible news. My benefactor , mentor, father, confidant ,adviser, friend Justice Nasir Ajanah who hugely shaped my view on life, work, and many other things, had passed away. I’ve never met too many as equally impressive, smart and grounded, humble ,heart of gold, selfless with great act of hospitality and listening ear as Late Justice Nasir Ajanah
It is not that common at this stage to find someone who shape our intellect, interest, and life in general. But my mentor did that. While we were originally brought together by the game of Basketball, I soon began to learn from his views and perspectives and his wealth of knowledge and experience . Which added to the fundamental for my understanding of the world.
I hope that everyone, when such people cross their paths, never take people like Late Justice Nasir Ajanah for granted. I certainly never did, and never will.
Late Justice Nasir Ajanah, you were a great man; you were important; you were a great thinker; you were a great heart; you were special; you were unique; you were an inspiration; you were a role-model; you were a leader; you were an example; you were my kind; you were my friend.
Many loved you; you are gone; yet, you live on. Many think fondly of you; many will remember you for a long time; your name has been engraved in the annals of history. You carved your name on hearts, not tombstones. A legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you.
