Kano Pillars yesterday defeated their Niger's AS Nigelec at the FIBA Africa Clubs Championship qualifiers in Togo, securing a ticket to the 31st FIBA Africa Club Champions Cup scheduled for 8 - 17 December in Cairo, Egypt.

The Nigerian league champions have won all four games played so far against Elan Sportiff (Benin Republic), Modele (Togo), AS Nigelec (Niger) and Nigerian Customs. Regardless of the outcome of the last game against the ASPAC (Benin Republic), Pillars have picked on of the two tickets available for Zone 3 at the FIBA Africa Clubs Champions Cup. They join other teams who have already qualified including Uganda's City Oilers (Zone 5).

The 2016 Club Champions Cup is the 31th Edition of the continental championship and it will be Kano Pillar's 5th consecutive appearance since 2012. The Pillars have not won a medal in the continental championship in over 20yrs.

There will be a huge pressure on the Pillars in Egypt. Confirming this, team's Head Coach, Coach Sani Ahmed noted “The task ahead of us in Egypt is not one we are taking lightly. The players and management know we will face a huge task when we go for the final round and as such there won't be any rest”
