Lead City University Ibadan is the first private university to be invited to the Intercollegiate Basketball Championship. They join institutions like University of Lagos (host) and Federal University of Technology, Minna (defending champions) who have already confirmed participation.

The university`s Director of Sports, Mrs Aloba, expressed her delight over the invitation. She stated that; "As the first private university, it is a great honour to be a part of this championship. It means we are being recognised and were selected based on our past record as defending champion among private universities in Nigeria. This will add more value to the University and also promote the institution`s image"

Knowing well that an intercollegiate championship is not an easy task, she added that the institution is trying its best in terms of training and preparation for the event to ensure that they have a proud performance.

The championship will tip off on Sunday 15th January at the Indoor Sports Hall of the University of Lagos. We hope that Lead City University students alumni and people connected to Ibadan one way or another will come out to cheer the team.

Mrs Aloba assured that the fans will not be disappointed; "We will not disappoint them. We will make sure we do all we can to make them proud with their full support"

We look forward to an exciting tournament.
