The date of the 2024 edition of the Louis Edem Invitational basketball tournament has been announced along with the 10 participating teams. As part of its commitment to develop basketball in the West African region, the 2024 edition will feature 4 teams from Ghana and Benin Republic. 

This edition tagged, ‘The West African Basketball Championship’ will feature ASPAC Basketball Club and Energie Basketball Club from Benin Republic, while Customs Braves and Spintex Knights will fly the Ghanaian flag. 

The invitational basketball championship launched by the Louis Edem Foundation in 2022 is part of the Foundation’s N100m commitment to the development of grassroots basketball in Nigeria over the next five years. 

The West African teams will be joined by the defending champions, Rivers Hoopers, 2022 champions Kwara Falcons, Lagos Raptors, Lagos Legends, Comets, and Hoops and Read.


Rivers Hoopers will hope to retain their title while Spintex Knights will take another shot at the chance of becoming the first non-Nigerian champion having made it to the finals in the last edition. 

The prestigious event will take place from Sunday March 31 to Sunday April 7, 2024 at the Indoor Arena of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
