Summarize

In a communique released early today by the Nigeria Basketball Federation (signed by Olumide Oyedeji), the names of the 22 players invited to the training camp ahead of the 2017 Afrobasket Women Competition scheduled for 18 - 27 August in Bamako, Mali were announced.

The invited players are

1. Helen Ogunjimi;

2. Sarah Ogoke;

3. Elonu Adaora;

4. Ndidi Madu;

5. Sarah Imovbioh;

6. Ibiam Elem;

7. Uju Ugoka;

8. Joyce Ekworomadu;

9. Ezinne Kalu

10. Promise Amukamara;

11. Olayinka Sanni;

12. Ugochi Nwaigwe;

13. Ifunanya Ibekwe;

14. Evelyn Akhator;

15. Atosu Upe;

16. Chioma Udeaja;

17. Nkechi Akashili;

18. Nkem Akaraiwe;

19. Gloria Umeh;

20. Ebere Okeke;

21. Elawere Odion Tina; and

22. Christiana Isaac. 

The camp which opens on the 23rd July 2017 will be supervised by a three-man coaching staff headed by Scott Nnaji. He will be assisted by Mauro Procaccini and Kwara Falcons` Adewunmi Aderemi. Players from the Zenith Women`s Basketball League are expected to join the camp immediately after the Final Eight Playoffs. 

These are familiar names as most of these players represented the country during the 2015 Afrobasket Women`s Competition and the Women`s Olympic Qualifying Tournament. We hope we would not have two lists and two camps as recently experienced during the FIBA Africa 3x3 Event.
