Summarize

The Nigerian men`s and women`s wheelchair basketball teams will participate in the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) Africa World Championship Qualifiers 2017 which will be hosted by WheelChair Basketball South Africa next month.

The 7-day qualifiers will be held at the Tongaat Indoor Sports Centre, KwaZulu-Natal from Saturday 18th November and will feature 8 men`s and 4 women`s team across the continent. These teams will compete for the only one spot for each (men and women) available for Africa at the world tournament scheduled for Hamburg, Germany next year.

In the men’s competition, the eight teams are split across two pools - A and B. Nigeria will take on Ghana, Egypt and defending champions Algeria in Pool B, while host South Africa will face Morocco, Angola and Zimbabwe in Pool A. In the pool of women`s team, Nigeria will compete against Algeria, Zimbabwe and South Africa. 


The finals of the tournament will take place on the 24th November, where the first ever 3x3 ActionBall Knockout Continental Challenge will be launched.
