The continent`s basketball regulatory body - FIBA Africa - will on Tuesday 7 February lay the first stone of its new headquarters in Abidjan.

The new facility to be located on the banks of the Ebrie Lagoon in the Treichville borough will be built on a 4.000 square metre plot of land and is expected to be completed by early 2018.

The ceremony will be presided over by the Vice President of Cote d`Ivoire Daniel Kablan Duncan and will be witnessed by a number of dignitaries including the country`s Minister of Sports, Francois Amichia; FIBA Africa President and FIBA Vice-President Hamane Niang; FIBA Africa Regional Director Alphonse Bile; FIBA Chief Operating Officer Markus Studer; and FIBA Treasurer Ingo Weiss.

Finally, Africa gets its own House of Basketball.
