Summarize

The IBB team, last week, won the inaugural edition of the Red Bull Reign in Nigeria after defeating Treasures in the National Finals played at the Lagos State Sports Complex, Rowe Park, Yaba. In the build-up to the National finals, teams participated in the qualifiers in both Lagos and Ibadan.

Sixteen teams participated in each qualifier with eight teams advancing to the national finals from each centre. Flames, Festival, Fire, Kings, Victory, Seal, IBB, and Treasure all made it from Lagos, while some of the teams from the Ibadan qualifiers include Raptors, Rockets, and Timberwolves.

IBB team won a cash sum of a hundred thousand Naira among other prizes and an all-expense-paid trip to Canada to represent Nigeria in the global finals in Toronto later this month. The team will compete with other Red Bull Reign finalists from different countries around the world including Angola, Belgium, Canada, Estonia, Hong Kong, India, Kosovo, Lithuania, Montenegro, Netherlands, Philippines, Russia, Taiwan, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.

3x3 basketball is considered to be the number one urban team sports and its inclusion in the Youth Olympics from next year is a testament to that popularity. Red Bull Reign could not have come to Nigeria at a better time.

Congrats to the IBB team and all the best to them in Canada.
