Sisters, Nneka and Chiney Ogwumike have been elected as Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) Players' union executive council members. Nneka will serve as president while her younger sister will serve as one of the vice presidents.

Nneka who succeeds Indiana Fever's small forward Tamika Catchings who has served as president since 2004, will hold the position for 3 years. She was vice president for two year under Tamika which might be a reason she ran for the presidency unopposed.

Nneka was announced as the 2016 league MVP last week and she seem excited at the opportunity to represent the players. In her words “I am looking forward to serving as Executive Committee President and having a voice that will be heard, while representing, collaborating with, and leading our players'

In her message to Associated Press, Chiney stated “I`m thrilled to team up with my sister again, this time representing the best interests of the best women`s basketball players in the world, both on and off the court. Our league is a sisterhood, and our goal is to continue to expand our unique platform from the locker room to the greater community”

The sisters will be joined on the executive committee by Layshia Clarendon, Monique Currie, and Monica Wright.

We wish the sisters the best as they continue to fly the Nigerian flag high.
